With Tim, Joan, Abby & Jake
After numerous flights connection from Singapore to Alabama - from excitement to exhaustion, we finally reached Cabana Apartment where Dar was put up throughout his training period. When we reached Alabama on 20 May, he was away in Atlanta and so Pam McCarty came to fetch us instead. It was 'bond at first sight' with her and felt the hospitality extended by her immediately. She snapped our pictures when we arrived at the airport and she was like a family member waiting anxiously for our arrival - truly appreciate her gesture. Too bad, no photo with her :(
This trip had also given me the opportunity to meet my friend, Louise Barne whom I met during our Russian trip in 1995. It never crosses my mind that one day some day I get to travel half the globe and be where I am now - here in The United States! Louise came to Cabana Apartment and brought us out to lunch while Dar was at work. We had so much to catch up.
Most importantly, over the weekend we were invited to Louise's granddaughter's wedding at Gulf Breeze. Imagine being the only Chinese guests at an American wedding - it was fantastic to be part of the celebration on the wedding day of Chris & Katie Brown. We all enjoyed the road trip from Alabama to Pensacola, stop-over for the night at Tampa and continued our journey to Gulf Breeze. We met Louise's family members and were glad that they liked the gifts which I brought from Singapore.
Came home with fond memories on the southern hospitality extended by Pam in Alabama as well as by Louise and her family from Florida.
Oh ya - Shopping at Walmart is shiok! Retail therapy in America is fantastic - trust me :P
